An African grocery store in Didcot has moved to a larger premises in town in response to increasing popularity and demand.
A Taste of Africa (formerly Liz’s African Groceries) has moved from Station Road to 108 Broadway, Didcot.
Owner Elizabeth Davies said this was a result of stocking a greater variety of groceries and produce in line with growing requests since first opening on September 5.
Ms Davies said: “Our popularity is really on the rise which has been a nice surprise, both with new and returning customers.
“I never realised there were so many people living locally from Africa or who enjoyed African produce from countries all over the continent such as Ghana, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Nigeria.

“We were getting more and more orders for all kinds of things so we needed to upgrade to a bigger space.
“We’re in a medium-sized store now which is certainly a lot more fitting – I just need to watch we don’t get too big. I do think we’ll continue to grow.”
Ms Davies is also in the process of applying for a premises licence to sell alcohol to further expand the range of produce on offer.
She added: “I wanted to change everything before I moved. I’d been asking people for suggestions for a new name and it came down to three but A Taste of Africa proved the most popular.”
The new store is now open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm and Sundays from 10am to 5pm.
