Oxford's Salvation Army church has lent a helping hand to 480 families with donations of toys.
The community donated more than 2,000 new toys as part of the Salvation Army's Christmas Present Appeal.
The appeal encourages people to donate new, unused toys and gifts to families and individuals with little money, in collaboration with social services and other charities.
In addition to toys, each family received supermarket vouchers and a box of chocolates.
Cadet Paul Devine, church leader at The Salvation Army in Oxfordshire, said: "This is the first year my wife and I have been involved with Oxford Salvation Army’s Christmas Present Appeal and we were truly touched by the public’s generosity during such hard times that we face.
"We were also moved by the dedication of Oxford Salvation Army members who gave up many hours of their free time to raise thousands of pounds by singing, playing in the brass band, and collecting donations.
“Our thanks go to other local churches in our community who donated toys through dedicated toy services.
"We would also like to thank our team of hard-working staff and volunteers who helped to sort and distribute the presents and vouchers to families in need.”
Last year, the Salvation Army in the UK distributed over 76,000 gifts to individuals and families.
To support The Salvation Army, either donate directly to your local church or centre, or through the national appeal.
