Firefighters have issued a warning after a fire was started by a tumble dryer overheating.
Fire crews were called to the home in Chipping Norton at 8am on Friday (December 15) and found a well-developed fire on the ground floor with heavy smoke throughout the property.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using high-pressure hose reels, and cleared the property of smoke using positive pressure fans.
Incident Commander, Watch Manager Nick Mason, said: "Due to the property having working smoke alarms and the occupants' swift action in exiting the property and dialing 999, a fully developed fire was brought under control."
He also issued a warning to households to make sure appliances are well maintained.
He said: "The fire started in a tumble dryer and although the cause is unknown it is worth noting tumble dryers require cleaning regularly to remove any lint build up, never use whilst out of the property or in bed.
"This serves as a timely reminder to check your white goods in your home and test your smoke alarms to ensure they are working correctly."
