Two town councillors have resigned from Wallingford Town Council in one day.
Former councillors Stephen Beatty and Paul Gibbon tendered their resignations on Tuesday (December 12).
Two vacancies are now open.
Wallingford mayor Councillor Dan Beauchamp said: “Councillors Gibbon and Beatty have left for personal reasons. People enter into public services with the best intentions, however serving as a councillor at parish and town level is not a paid role.
"Therefore, elected town councillors are required to balance this with other personal or business commitments and sometimes, something has to give as striking a balance can be too difficult."
Mr Beauchamp confirmed that to fill both vacancies, the council will face either an election or co-option (this option sees the selection of the new councillors during the next council meeting).
He added that this will be determined by South Oxfordshire District Council, who will inform the town council on January 5.
