Police were called to a welfare incident at the Abingdon Christmas Extravaganza over the weekend.

Officers were called by the event's medic team to check on a female's welfare who they had concerns about on Saturday, December 2.

They were first on the scene responding to a report of a theft, which was unconnected to the event.

The victim was first supported by the community officers before they arrived on the scene.

Foot patrols took place in the town centre from noon until 6.30pm during the event.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "It was lovely to see so many people out enjoying themselves despite the freezing weather and fog.
