Oxford City Council has welcomed the completion of a redevelopment project on Walton Street.

The Lucy Group has revitalised the former site of Jericho Health Centre, transforming it into St Paul’s House and Cranham House, complete with modern flats and new retail space.

Eight flats above the former health centre have been extensively refurbished, with new roof and side extensions delivering a further nine homes.

A Sainsbury’s Local store now occupies the ground floor, providing 19 jobs.

Councillor Linda Smith, cabinet member for housing took formal handover of five flats in St Paul’s House on December 5.

These flats, leased back to the council for 999 years, will be let at social rent to those on the housing register.

Lucy Group will privately rent the remaining 14 homes.

Councillor Smith said: "Oxford needs homes of all tenures and Lucy’s redevelopment delivers 17 high-quality flats that will be a delight to live in.

"Five of these are council homes we’ll let at social rent and every single one will make a life-changing difference to a household on our housing register."

Ian Ashcroft, chief executive officer of Lucy Real Estate, said: "Now known as St. Paul’s House and Cranham House, this overdue refurbishment has totally transformed a rather unloved 1970s building and created an impressive piece of architecture in a prominent Jericho location."

A roof garden and podium level garden add biodiversity and outdoor space for residents, contributing to a modern aesthetic.
