Barclays has announced the date for the forthcoming closure of its Abingdon branch as part of a national reduction.
The company said it will shut its branch in The Square on February 15 next year, citing the number of counter transactions going down in the last two years as the reason for the decision.
The UK’s largest cash machine network, LINK, keeps track of any planned branch closures across the country.

The decision will see more than 200 Barclays branch closures in 2023 and 2024 with online banking becoming more common and only 10 per cent of the company’s transactions taking place in person.
A Barclays spokesperson said they are now seeing many customers choosing to bank via their app, online banking service or by telephone.
