A Wantage entrepreneur is riding high after pursuing her passion and taking the reigns of a national brownie business she now runs from her home kitchen.
Angela Anstey, from East Hendred, bought Jolly Good Brownies in the autumn of this year from her close friend Oli Barton, who had decided to pursue a new career as a midwife.
An avid baker who previously worked for the NHS, Ms Anstey utilised the opportunity to get hands on and work from home with more flexible hours to suit her family life, baking a variety of different brownies for a range of clients.

Ms Anstey said: “Oli started the business in 2018. I bought it off her and she passed on the secret recipe. We have so many fantastic clients based all round the UK who always come back as we’re now so well-established.
“Orders are really ramping up now in the run up to Christmas, especially for corporate teams. We also have regular gift boxes and packages designed for children and events such as weddings too.”
The brownies are made fresh to order, using free-range eggs and quality chocolate. The variety of flavours available includes: salted caramel, after eight, vegan, gluten free and chocolate orange.
Ms Anstey added: “I’m absolutely loving it; the house always smells of brownies as I’m baking all times of the day. It’s a great balance for family life too as I can spend more time with my children.”
