A committed tower captain from a church in Bicester held a bell ringing competition in hope it would entice people to join his team.
St Edburg’s Church was filled with chiming and cheer on Saturday as teams of bell ringers from Oxfordshire and beyond gathered for the annual 10-bell striking competition.
The teams were judged on their delivery of a set piece of music, Little Bob Royal, and the team from Reading were judged to be the winners.

St Edburg’s tower captain Steve Walker said: “It went very well. As a result of the previous article in the Oxford Mail about this event, ITV Meridian came along to film us.
“He interviewed the deputy ring master and took videos of people in the ringing chamber. It went out in the afternoon.”
Mr Walker said he hasn’t been approached by anybody wanting to join the team yet, but he remains positive.
