Organiser Louise Drewett told the Oxford Mail: "This time of year is hopefully one of giving and sharing for lots of people.
"Watching the news recently I thought I can't be one of those people who says they feel bad and doesn't do anything.
"It's important to sometimes dive down deep and be empowered.
"Walkers will be part of a team and it's a once in a lifetime experience."
Entry to the event is free but those walking are asked to pay a registration fee of £20 and pledge to raise a minimum of £100.
There is also a fundraising page which is collecting for the Doctors Without Borders charity online.
Ms Drewett, who wanted to find a unique way to raise money for charity, added that participants would receive a free t-shirt and possibly some cake.
The firewalking part of the event is open to those over the age of 18.
Doctors Without Borders is "the world's leading medical humanitarian organisation" which provides emergency assistance to those in need.
