A charity campaign asking people to donate coats they no longer need to make a difference to the homeless and vulnerable during winter achieved spectacular results.
Witney Rotary Club's Wrap Up collection of unwanted but useable coats collected over 670 coats in just over one week.
Last year the campaign received 70 donated items.
Some coats have been offered to asylum seekers in Witney and the remainder will be passed on to Emmaus Oxford for distribution among the homeless and needy in the wider Oxford area.
Wrap Up is a yearly national project where Rotary Clubs collect coats for charities that support people in the UK to keep warm in winter.
In 2021, more than 21,600 garments were donated nationally and given to the homeless and needy.
President of Witney Rotary Club Keith Crawford said: “I am so pleased that the club has been able to run Wrap Up again in 2023, and that the people of Witney and Carterton have given so generously."
