Shoppers enjoy Victorian Christmas market in Oxford

Festive stalls filled Broad Street for four days from Thursday until Sunday.

There were traders dressed in Victorian costumes, street food, entertainment and Christmas gifts for sale.

Chris Hartley from Leicestershire, was running the Swimzi store selling bobble hats.

He said: "The best market I've ever done was Lincoln Christmas market.

"I sold a hat every minute and a half. Yesterday when I was here I sold nine which is about 25 per cent of my baseline."

"The organisation of this market is good, but it's all been put on at the wrong time. It's too early."

The Victorian Christmas market will be followed by Oxford City Christmas Market, which will run from November 30 to December 23, also in Broad Street.

This will feature a mix of local arts and crafts, food stalls and gifts.

There are other festive markets across the county, including one at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock.

This runs from November 18 to December 18.

It will feature craft traders housed within wooden chalets in the Great Court.

Each year the market is filled with a range of artisan ceramics, textiles, homewares, leather goods, jewellery, toys, stationery, bags, hats, and more.
