An Oxfordshire primary school has been rated ‘good’ across the board in a new Ofsted report, with inspectors commending its inclusive curriculum.

The report on Manor Primary School in Didcot opens by stating the school’s motto of ‘aspire and contribute’ is woven throughout its curriculum, with pupils aiming to show school values in daily life.

It states the school "has made lots of changes to improve learning recently" which have "made the expectations of what pupils can achieve even higher". 

The report, released today, commends pupils for their attitude to school life, emphasising that they "aim to show the school values, such as ambition, tenacity and respect in daily school life".

It also states the pupils "proudly wear the badges pinned to their school ties that show these values" and "enjoy the leadership roles as pupil parliament and house captains".

Further praise in the report centres on the new "carefully designed broad and balanced curriculum in place" with staff found to be teaching literacy and numeracy well by providing "effective extra instruction for any pupil who needs to catch up" and reading "high-quality and diverse texts to their classes to promote a love of reading".

The report is based on a visit conducted by Ofsted on October 11 and 12 this year, which rated the school ‘good’ overall and in all five areas of assessment.

These were quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision.

The report however identifies that "pupils are not learning and remembering knowledge as well as they could in some subjects" due to "weaker curriculum thinking in the past".

But it notes "the new curriculum ensures that teachers revisit prior learning to check pupils’ and again praised teachers, saying they ‘spot any gaps’ in pupils' knowledge and ‘address them well". 

Calls for improvement were directed at current support measures for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, stating that these students "do not always learn as well as they could" as "targets are too vague or not focused on what will make the most difference".        

The school has been a part of the GLF Schools Multi-Academy Trust since 2019 and has 328 pupils aged from four to 11.
