Queues have formed at temporary traffic lights on a major Oxford road as a result of continued emergency works.

Barriers and temporary lights have been put in place on Botley Road at the junction with Binsey Lane near Waitrose Road since Thursday.

However there were no workers at the scene this afternoon.

The works, undertaken by British gas distribution company SGN, led to one motorist stating that it took him 30 minutes to get to Osney Mead from Seacourt Towers on Friday morning during rush hour.

Today's queues come shortly after drivers were told to expect major delays at the Botley Interchange in Oxford with two weeks of gas works under way.

The Oxford Mail has contacted SGN for more information on why the works on Botley Road are taking place and for how long they are expected to last.
