Jeremy Clarkson is under attack for criticising David Attenborough's Planet Earth series.

Springwatch star Chris Packham reacted angrily on X, formerly Twitter, after Mr Clarkson admitted he wasn't impressed by Sir David Attenborough's latest Planet Earth series.

The owner of Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington near Chipping Norton gave his views on Mr Attenborough's latest programmes in his column for The Sun.

Mr Packham, a celebrated environmentalist, responded by criticising Mr Clarkson for slamming " the world's greatest broadcaster and the man who has done more than anyone has or ever will to protect life on earth".

Mr Packham was peeved after Mr Clarkson voiced his lack of enjoyment for 97-year old Attenborough's latest Planet Earth series.

Oxford Mail: David AttenboroughThe former Top Gear presenter said in his column: "Oh the photography is brilliant. Spellbinding even. But the words are driving me insane."

The outspoken broadcaster then pointed out that despite once admiring Mr Attenborough's knowledge of animals, he now feels his mission to educate viewers on global warming has become repetitive.

He wrote: "Now all we ever get is, 'here’s a see-through fish with an orange stomach, and it’s future is threatened by climate change' and then it’s: 'here’s something with pointy teeth and soon it will be wiped out by global warming'.

"We know already. So please, in future, tell us about the animals, not the b****y weather."

Fans took to social media in support of Mr Packham and his defence over Attenborough.

One user wrote: "Jeremy, a man full of himself. Sir David, a man full of the wonder of Life."

Oxford Mail: Chris PackhamIt's not the first time Mr Clarkson has published a controversial column in The Sun.

Earlier this year, he wrote that he dreamed of Meghan Markle being forced to ‘parade naked’ through British towns, prompting a record-breaking 25,100 complaints to The Independent Press Standards Organisation.

He later apologised admitting he had "put my foot in it".

He accepted that his language was "disgraceful" and added that he was "profoundly sorry".

The Sun also apologised.

Production is under way on the third season of TV series Clarkson's Farm, which features the farm he owns in Chadlington.

Amazon Prime confirmed in October last year that a third series was in the works but have not said when it will be released except that it will be in 2024.

In February Mr Clarkson tweeted that his 'rough guess' was that the show would return 18 months from then.

He later gave an update saying: 'We actually won't finish filming it till October."
