The A34 southbound has partly reopened after overrunning gas work.
Contractors working on behalf of SGN and National Highways reopened one southbound lane just after 4pm today.
SGN was meant to reopen one lane of the road near the Botley Interchange at 5am this morning after shutting it all weekend for work on the gas network.
But the work wasn’t finished on time and the road has remained shut throughout today (Monday, November 6) with SGN apologising for the delay.
Many motorists were stuck in long traffic queues and Oxfordshire County Council and MP Layla Moran criticised SGN for the disruption.
Part of the road has now reopened, with National Highways East announcing at 4.45pm that one lane was operational while the other lane remained shut as part of the roadworks.
National Highways thanked motorists for their patience.
