On the 4th November 2023, many locals gathered at Long Crendon School to witness their spectacular fireworks display in honour of Guy Fawkes Night approaching on November 5th.

The festivities were located in the school’s field, where a variety of food trucks gathered, including fish and chips from Howe & Co, Thai food from the local ‘Fat Buddha’ restaurant and a bar selling a variety of drinks, including mulled wine to embrace the festive spirit. There were also opportunities to buy toasted marshmallows after the display, which proved very popular. The atmosphere was furthered by live music, some of which involved the school’s own pupils. A particular favourite was a cover of the infamous ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry, which helped to set the tone for the night to come.

Doors to the event opened at 4:45 pm, giving everyone attending the chance to arrive early to make the most of the food, drinks, and entertainment available prior to the fireworks display, which started at roughly 6pm. Tickets could be bought at the door, with rates being £5.50 for a child ticket and £7.50 for adults, or in advance online for a slightly cheaper rate. The show lasted approximately half-an-hour and was packed with a wide range of rockets- such as firecracker, brocade, and chrysanthemum fireworks- which made for a mesmerising effect against the starry backdrop. The finale was particularly impressive.

A variety of age groups were in attendance, ranging from babies to grandparents, all showing their support for the primary school. A resident from a neighbouring village, Cole Bendor-Samuels, said: ‘It was great to see the community all gathered together.’ Overall, the night proved to be a success and seemed to be enjoyed by all.
