16-year-old Felipe cycled over 350 miles and over 20,000 feet of climbing from Paris to Geneva in just 4 days to raise money for The National Bobath Cerebral Palsy Centre.
This journey was a part of the Ride 25 cycling event where riders cycle from London to Sydney in 25 annual stages. This was the 2nd leg of the journey following last summer’s journey from London to Paris.
Felipe is the youngest rider in the group and had never done such a long ride before but wanted to challenge himself and support individuals affected by cerebral palsy - a cause really close to his heart. Felipe volunteers every fortnight with the Summertown Stars’ Cerebral Palsy football team, Warriors, and is “committed to raise awareness and work to improve the lives of children who live with CP”.
Felipe wanted to help an organisation that made a meaningful difference to both the individuals affected by cerebral palsy and their families. He was amazed by the work done by The National Bobath Cerebral Palsy Centre, empowering those living with cerebral palsy and championing equal access to support. “ The Bobath Centre has an outstanding reputation for the critical work it does for people with cerebral palsy.”
Felipe surpassed his fundraising target of £1500 and raised a total of £1667. The funds will be used to extend Bobath Centre’s therapy programmes, buy specialised sensory play equipment, and support research initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of treatment and advancing our knowledge of cerebral palsy.
The next stage of the Ride25 journey will take the cyclists from Geneva to Milan. Good luck Felipe!
