A sex beast who was jailed in Oxford for abducting and molesting a 15-year-old boy has lost his appeal bid.

Lawyers for predator Jed Denton had hoped to convince top judges his almost nine year prison time was too high.

But a panel of three at London’s Court of Appeal upheld the Oxford judge’s hefty sentence today.

Refusing permission to appeal the sentence, Mr Justice Saini noted Denton had groomed and abducted his victim, plied him with booze and was significantly older than the teen.

Throwing out the appeal, he added: “[The] defendant accused his victim of making up the alleged offence in order to extort money.”

Denton was not in court to hear the judge’s words.

In January, Oxford Crown Court heard that the boy was forced to flee cross-country after escaping the older man’s 4x4 with the ruse that he needed to relieve himself.

He banged on the window of a stranger’s home, telling the roused residents he had just been molested in the Toyota pick-up truck.

The teen had been collected by Denton in Oxford one evening in December 2021 and was driven to an isolated spot near Noake, where the abuse took place

He was plied with Strongbow cider and Courvoisier brandy by the older man, who spoke of his desire to tie his victim to a tree and “said something about rape”.

When he was arrested, Denton denied sexually assaulting the child.

Then after his saliva was found on the boy’s underpants, he claimed it was “well-known” he used to spit into bottles.

And the brazen abuser even suggested that his victim collected the saliva and deposited it on his own underwear as part of a blackmail attempt.

The lie was maintained at a hearing in 2022, when the victim was cross-examined by Denton’s defence barrister.

In a victim impact statement, the boy’s mother said: “Never would I imagine that my son would be the victim of such a horrendous crime.”

But she expressed pride that her son had supported the prosecution as he “didn’t want this to happen to another child”.

“What child can go through hell but still wants to do what is right?” she said.

Denton, of Underhill Circus, Barton, eventually pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child, driving whilst disqualified and possession of cannabis.

He maintained his denial to false imprisonment.

Jailing him for eight years and 11 months in January, Judge Ian Pringle KC told Denton, then 29: “It is difficult to imagine the terror that must have been going through the young boy’s mind.”
