An extravaganza of technology, nature and of course, science, continued this Sunday as hundreds of children heard from experts in their field.

The event followed on from one in Headington last Sunday and took place in greater Leys, organised by IF Oxford as part of its science and ideas festival.

IF Oxford is an independent charity which runs a cultural programme that aims to inspire communities across Oxford to create an annual science and ideas Festival in Oxford.

Charity director, Dane Comerford, said of the programme: "It’s wonderful to see at zones like this, how the Festival and Oxford’s science culture has bounced back since the those challenging times of the pandemic.

"Delivering this special day with Science Oxford was a great way to show diversity of science and how we can explore it in family groups.

"The woodland and Water Lab, alongside pandemic science and engineering activities are important, because they equip scientists of the future with valuable skills while instilling creativity, which is at the heart of modern discovery.”

Children got stuck in with sticky tape and scissors and experienced practical demonstrations related to scientific concepts.

The programme of science and ideas events runs across the city and online until October 29.
