A popular community event in Oxford is continuing to thrive with the support of a local housebuilder.
Vistry Thames Valley has donated £500 to the Barton Bash – a family fun day run by the Barton Community Association. Event organisers decided to split the money; with half going to the most recent Barton Bash held last month and the remainder to be used for the Christmas event they are hosting on Sunday, December 17.
Held at Barton Neighbourhood Centre, September’s bash featured a range of attractions, including a mini zoo, corsage making lessons, free bike maintenance sessions, food stalls, a photo booth, a tombola, a variety of physical activities such as softball and darts, and a DJ set. December’s festive gathering, which takes place at the same venue, is set to include a raffle, gentle exercise and a three-course Christmas meal, with several more activities to be confirmed closer to the event.
Sue Holden, company secretary at Barton Community Association, said: “September’s event was our best bash ever. We had the biggest turnout we ever had. It is great to be able to bring together the community and see so many families enjoying the festivities. It would not be possible without the sponsors we get, and we are extremely grateful to Vistry for their continued support.”
