Public notices are adverts placed by councils and other local authorities to inform people of developments in their areas.
They can cover a wide variety of topics that may impact your life.
They can include planning applications and appeals, road closures or proposals by pubs or nightclubs hoping to change their opening hours or make other variations.
The purpose of a public notice is to make sure anybody - either an individual or a group - with an interest has an opportunity to find out about and comment on the proposal before a decision is made on whether to allow it to go ahead.
Temporary closure Botley Road, Beckett Street, Cripley Road: Roger Dudman Way will be closed to through traffic and parking and the bus terminus suspended from October 27.
This is to allow utility diversions as part of the Botley Road bridge replacement and Oxford Station upgrade which is anticipated to be completed October 31, 2024.
These are 24 hour restrictions.
1. Botley Road will be closed from Mill Street to Becket Street.
2. Becket Street closed from Frideswide Square southwards for 35 metres, and
3. Parking is suspended in Becket Street as above, Cripley Road and from Botley Road to Cripley Place both sides.
Also, there will be no waiting in Cripley Road and Roger Dudman Way at their junctions with Botley Road.
This will be used as the temporary bus turning and passenger drop-off and holding area.
Exemptions are emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.
Traffic signs will be displayed once the measures are in force.
The alternative routes for traffic are signed via the A34 Oxford ring road.
Shake Shack: Diverse Dining Ltd has applied to Oxford City Council for a premises licence for Shake Shack, 33-34 Cornmarket, Oxford OX1 3EZ allowing late night refreshment and the sale of alcohol between 10am - 11.30pm Sunday - Thursday, and 10am - midnight Friday and Saturday.
Any representations must be made in writing to The Licensing Authority, Oxford City Council, Town Hall, St, Aldates, Oxford, OX1 1BX or email licensing@oxford.gov.uk no later than November 6, 2023, stating the grounds. The application can be inspected at www.oxford.gov.uk
Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme public inquiry: A public inquiry will be held by an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs beginning at 10am on Tuesday November 14 at The King's Centre, Osney Mead, Oxford, OX2 0ES to hear representations from remaining objectors or from any other person having an interest in the land subject to a compulsory purchase order for the Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme.
The proposed scheme to the west, south west and south of Oxford, which will be approximately 5km long, running from just north of Botley Road down to south of the A423 southern by-pass near Kennington, where it joins the River Thames. Most of this area is farmland and flood meadow.
The scheme will create a new stream with lowered wetland habitat alongside it, creating more space for floodwater away from built-up areas.
The public inquiry will also consider orders made by the Environment Agency which will extinguish public rights of way in the vicinity of the land.
