Patient participation groups from three Didcot GP practices have joined forces to bring a health and wellbeing day to the town for the first time.
The open event will take place on Saturday, November 18 at Didcot Civic Hall from 10am to 2pm and will see local community and sports groups in attendance offering the chance to get involved with social and physical activities, demonstrations, refreshments and a wealth of helpful information provided. The event will also serve as signposting service for health and wellbeing but is not intended to serve as a GP clinic.
The event has been organised by the chairs of Oak Tree Health Centre’s, Didcot Health Centre’s and Woodlands Medical Centre’s patient participation groups.
Chair Andrea Warren said: “One of our other chairs had been to a similar event nearby and enjoyed it so we wanted to bring one to Didcot. We’ve had a lot of interest so far; we’re just getting everyone confirmed to attend.
“We’ve got a Zumba group leader who will be doing a few demonstrations, blood pressure monitoring, first aiders, an information table showing everything going on locally such as free walks twice a week in Ladygrove, park runs, different groups for people of all ages and abilities and much more.
“It’s an event to bring everything together. It’s certainly something we’d like to do more than once.”
