KFC will be opening a new takeaway restaurant in an Oxfordshire shopping centre later this year.

The global fried chicken chain has confirmed it will open a new store at the Orchard Centre in Didcot but was unable to provide an exact opening date.

A brochure published by the Orchard Centre shows KFC is set to move into the unit in between Burger King and Shoezone.

The new takeaway restaurant is expected to create 30 jobs.

A KFC Spokesperson said: “The rumours are true. The Colonel is coming to Orchard Centre this year, bringing 30 new jobs to the area.

"We know we’ve got lots of KFC fans in Didcot and we love the area too!

"We’re busy getting our chicks in a row but we can’t wait to settle in, serving fans our famously delicious fried chicken.”

Oxford Mail:

A new KFC store opened in Headington earlier this week on Windmill Road after planning permission was granted by Oxford City Council in April this year.

In 2019, before the pandemic, KFC said it wanted to open at least nine new outlets in Oxfordshire.

The targeted areas were Summertown, Didcot, Abingdon and at the Sainsbury’s in Littlemore.

KFC was founded by Colonel Harland Sanders, who died in 1980.

He was an entrepreneur who began selling fried chicken from his roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, during the Great Depression.
