The public is invited to a ‘spooktacular’ Halloween event with a pumpkin carving competition at a fire station.

Firefighters will be playing Halloween themed games and giving guided tours of fire engines at Thame Fire Station on Tuesday, October 31 from 5.30pm to 8pm.

There will also be a pumpkin carving competition, raffle prizes and some trick or treat shenanigans.

Anyone who wants to enter the carving contest should post a picture of their pumpkin on Thame Fire Station’s Facebook page.

Firefighters will judge entries and invite the ten shortlisted entrants to each bring their pumpkin to the open evening where the winner will be announced and awarded a special prize.

Firefighter Lisa Norgate-Barnes, from Thame Fire Station, said: “As on-call firefighters, we work and live in the local community, with the fire station a pivotal landmark in our town centre.

“This event is a great way for residents to find out more about what we do and for many to achieve an ambition, to sit in the cab of a fire engine. We hope it will be spookily exciting, with lots of fun and plenty of sweets for children and adults alike.

“Our spooktacular event is free but we are also raising funds for The Firefighters Charity. These events help support every member of the fire service by providing a broad range of health and wellbeing services.”
