Senior coroner Darren Salter said the cause of Mr Griffin’s death was given as hypoxic brain injury caused by cardiac arrest following a ‘traumatic spine injury’.
He was formally identified to members of staff at the John Radcliffe by his brother, Oxford Coroner’s Court was told.
A full inquest will be held on April 9, when the coroner will conclude the case.
