Wantage will mark its royal history with an annual festival to celebrate King Alfred the Great.

AlfredFest will feature a packed day of events related to the great ruler, who is believed to have been born in the town more than 1,000 years ago.

The festival next Saturday (October 28) will begin at 10am with an opening ceremony in the Market Square pedestrianised area.
