The female wheelchair winner in the Oxford Half Marathon has said the course was “bumpy” because of all the potholes in the city.
Joanna Robertson, who completed the race in 1:16:03, cementing her place as the first female wheelchair finisher, told the Oxford Mail: “It’s a beautiful city but there were lots of bends and bumps because of the potholes.
“I went into a really big one at one point, and the ones that had been filled in were all sticky, which made it difficult at times.”
The competitor, from Aberdeen, said it was her first time competing in the Oxford Half Marathon, and commended the crowds on their enthusiasm.
Ms Robertson suffered a life changing spinal injury in 2019 and turned to sport as a result.
