The Environment Agency has warned that flooding is possible in areas of east and south Oxfordshire.

A flood alert has been issued by the Environment Agency after officers informed of rising river and tidal levels.

The flood alert area includes the River Thame from Marsworth to Dorchester including, Thames, Ickford, Wheatley, Drayton St Leonard, and the Chalgrove Brook at Chalgrove and Stadhampton.

A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: “Monitor local water levels and weather conditions. Avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding.

According to the UK government’s Check for Flooding site, a flood warning means you need to act.

The advice is to move vehicles to higher ground if it’s safe to do so, move family and pets to safety, move important items upstairs or to a safe place in your property, starting with cherished items and valuables, then furniture and furnishings.
