Police have made an arrest in connection with an incident which involved a woman being punched in the face outside an Oxford hotel.

The incident happened after a woman in her 30s was punched in the face outside the Travelodge on Abingdon Road at around 8pm on Friday, October 6. 

The woman suffered a swollen eye but did not require hospital treatment.

A 45-year-old man from Headington was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He has been released on bail until 9 January 2024.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following the incident.

The offender is described by police as a white man, in his mid-forties, with blonde hair.

Detective Constable Claire White, based at Oxford police station, said: “We are asking anyone who may have witnessed anything related to the assault to please come forward.

"We are also asking anyone who lives in the area who has a CCTV camera, or anyone with a dashcam who was driving in the area to please check their recordings and get in touch if it shows anything that may be of use for our investigation.
