A man died in hospital after falling down stairs at his home, a coroner’s court heard.

Retired assembly line fitter Raymond Haycroft, 83, was said to have fallen unconscious after the fall at his home in Didcot.

An ambulance was called and he was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

He died in the early hours of September 1, senior coroner Darren Salter said as he opened Mr Haycroft’s inquest on Wednesday afternoon (October 11).

The cause of his death was given as head trauma.

A full inquest will take place next year.

Held following sudden, unnatural or unexpected deaths, the purpose of an inquest is to establish the identity of the person who died and how they died.
