At Oxford Sixth Form College, we strongly believe that one size does not fit all. Every student has different aspirations and abilities and we are committed to helping them to reach their potential and meet their personal goals, whatever they may be. We work with them to identify any way possible to reach their dream career, regardless of their academic ability or any struggles they may have previously encountered.

From the moment we receive a student’s application we regard them as an individual. Our focused and inclusive admissions process helps us to understand a student’s motivations, personality and preferred ways of learning, allowing us to support them towards achieving the best possible outcomes. We help them to break down barriers, remove obstacles and find new ways to reach their goals; the most obvious path is not always the right path.

Oxford Mail:

We enrol a maximum of 8 students in A-Level classes and a maximum of 10 in GCSE and BTEC classes. This allows teachers to really get to know their students and, where possible, adapt their teaching to suit students’ personal learning styles. The result is that time is spent on building individual academic strengths and helping to improve in weaker areas. Students are more engaged, classes are more interactive and grades rise. Everyone wins.

Senior Tutors guide and support each student from the moment they enrol at the College to the moment they receive their exam results and beyond. As well as supporting them throughout their university applications, they act as a hub through which communication is streamlined between parents and the college, ensuring a holistic view and the best possible academic and pastoral support at all times.

We aim to create a diverse and enriching environment that our students can thrive in. With a 75% international student body, we celebrate and welcome the cultural diversity, ambition and global outlook that our students bring to the college. There are plenty of social events throughout the year to help them get to know their peers, as well as a thriving, yet non-compulsory, extra-curricular programme.

Oxford Mail:

Along with the traditional two-year A-Level, we offer a number of different flexible options, including a January start five-term A-Level programme, an intensive one-year GCSE programme and, for those who do not fair so well in exams, a coursework-focused BTEC Business Extended Diploma. This is equivalent to three A-Levels and is recognised by 95% of UK universities. We interview each and every student who applies to the college, to ascertain the best programme and subjects they should be studying in order to meet their academic goals.

Year after year, almost two thirds of our students gain entry to their first-choice university, which include UK Top 20 and Russell Group institutions.

Oxford Mail:

Speaking of our 2023 university destinations, Principal Mark Love said:

“We are delighted that a number of our students achieved their firm choice place with some outstanding individual results.  While we loudly applaud and celebrate our students receiving offers from the top universities, we place higher importance on the fact that through careful and expert guidance and support, all of our students are able to attend the university that best fits their individual goal.”

Oxford Sixth Form College is, well, just that: we are a college, not a school. There are no uniforms; teachers and students are on first name terms, there is mature approach to learning with emphasis on students managing their own workloads; perfect for preparing them for university life within an informal yet supportive environment.

Oxford Mail:
