A steak house in Oxford which is part of a pub-style chain has been handed a low hygiene rating following an inspection. 

The Longwall Beefeater in the Oxford Business Park in Cowley has received a two star rating following an inspection by the Food Standards Agency. 

This means that inspectors deemed that 'improvement is necessary' at the eatery.

The assessment was carried out on Friday, September 1. 

Longwall Beefeater was built on the A4142 in 1995 on a section of the original Rover factory.

The restaurant serves breakfast and is open until 11pm Monday to Saturday, then 10.30pm on Sundays. 

It means that of Oxford's 419 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 353 (84 per cent) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
