An initiative to encourage reluctant runners into sport was well attended with more than 75 students and staff taking part in the race for Macmillan.
The 3km event, and bake sale, which took place on Friday, September 29, was organised by the sports council and KS4 students.
The focus was on reaching out to students who may face barriers in traditional sports and providing them with an entry point into an active lifestyle while raising money for charity.
PE teacher, Sarah Masterson said: “Activities like this boost self-esteem and foster curiosity among these students, helping them recognise the numerous benefits of staying physically active.
“It was amazing to hear how these girls enjoyed staying after school for a sporting event for the very first time and feel empowered by part of this initiative.”
