Olympic rowing champion James Cracknell will stand as a Conservative candidate at the next general election – but not in Henley.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist will run in Colchester, where the incumbent Conservative MP Will Quince is to stand down.
It comes despite Mr Cracknell revealing in April that he intended to run as the Tory candidate for the Henley seat.

In an interview with the Telegraph at the time, he said the town had a “special place” in his heart and that representing the area in parliament would be a “humbling honour.”
The Conservatives abandoned its Henley selection process in June after a number of complaints were made about breaches.
Mr Cracknell and his coxless four crew won gold medals at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics.
