Children dressed in steam-era outfits for a special event at a heritage railway centre in Oxfordshire.

Didcot Railway Centre held the 'All in a Day’s Work' gala this weekend (September 23 and 24) which showcased four steam locomotives.

Crowds watched as the railway crew used a 50-ton hoist to lift the front of a locomotive and remove the front four wheels in a demonstration.

The turntable at the railway centre was also put to use to use for a demonstration of how four people can spin a 130 ton locomotive around.

At the smaller end of the scale, the Wickham trolley, powered by a Ford car engine, and the pump trolley, powered by its passengers, were giving rides.
