Tourists and shoppers were greeted by the sound of tinkling bicycle bells, as youngsters took part in a massed ride through Oxford’s city streets.
The Kidical Mass ride saw around 100 youngsters and their parents descend on Broad Street on Sunday before cycling a circular route past the Museum of Natural History and down St Giles.
Jonny Ives of Cyclox, the campaign group organising the ride, said: “What’s great with the kids, I think, is their enthusiasm to be on a bike. It starts and ends with that, really.
“When you’ve got safe spaces to ride a bike with your children, your concern for little ones – who are a bit more unpredictable – and your anxiety drops.”

A concept imported from the United States, 'Kidical Mass' rides for children have been organised in towns and cities around the UK by campaigners keen to promote cycling and road safety.
