When one considers that hundreds of people travel to and from their work in London every day, by both road and rail, it seems obvious that house building should be concentrated in or near London, not in inappropriate places in the countryside.
Shortening people's journey time to work would be doing something really eco-friendly and, who knows, it might at the same time free up housing for those who work in this area.
Now there is talk of introducing a high-speed rail link which, surely, will only make things worse.
