Abingdon School have won the inaugural Independent Schools Twenty20 Plate competition.
In the final at John Paul Getty's Wormsley ground on the Oxfordshire/Bucks border, they beat St Joseph's School, Ipswich, by 36 runs.
Sam Fletcher gave Abingdon a great start, plundering 35 from just 20 balls as they scored 55 from the first six-over power play.
James Edwards peppered the boundary on his way to 38.
But it was James Manasseh, who produced the innings of the day innings of the day, hitting hard and straight to score 73 from 45 balls.
Clever improvisation from Josh Smith (24) gave Abingdon an imposing total of 185-5.
St Joseph's made a poor start, Edwards striking with a direct run out from the first ball of the innings.
Frugal economy from Tim Deeks, whose three overs cost a miserly six runs, compounded the Suffolk side's misery.
Two more run outs, plus effective spells from Jamie Graves (3-37) and slow left-armer Nathaniel Watkins (3-21) dismissed the Ipswich team for 149, Abingdon received their trophy from former England fast bowler Gladstone Small.
They had begun their qualification for the Plate final by being runners-up to hosts Wellington College at a day's Twenty20 festival when they beat St Benedicts, Ealing, and Shiplake College, Henley.
They then went on the road, winning away to Stowe, Solihull and finally Hampton in the semi-final.
