There were no fatalities in a major crash that shut down a stretch of the M40 this morning, police have confirmed.

The motorway was shut between junctions eight and nine after the crash, which reportedly involved around 10 vehicles, according to AA Traffic.

South Central Ambulance Service responded to the crash, and it was reported over social media that fire engines were also on the scene.

A police spokesman confirmed “there have not been any fatalities.”

All lanes of the motorway were reopened at around 12.30pm and traffic had eased by 1pm.
