Oxford has been ranked as one of the most dangerous places in the UK for drivers, according to a new study.
The ranking, created by accident compensation experts Claims.co.uk, looked at the number of road accidents, vehicle break-ins and thefts, crash fatalities and licence penalty points reported in the last year.
Data from the government shows that an average of five people die and 84 are seriously injured every day on UK roads.

Within cities, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians are often at risk on busy urban roads – particularly in high-traffic areas.
Oxford is placed sixth on the list of cities that are most dangerous for drivers.
The city had the third highest number of road accidents, with 508 per 100,000 residents.
This was nearly double the national average.
Wakefield was ranked as the UK’s riskiest city for drivers with the highest prevalence of vehicle crime and the most licence penalty points, according to data from the Office for National Statistics and the government.
It also scored second-highest for road accidents.
Commenting on the findings, a spokesman from Claims.co.uk said: “It’s crucial that all drivers, whether a resident or visitor, recognize the elevated risks in areas that report high rates of accidents and thefts.
“The cities with the most licence penalty points are cause for concern, indicating unsafe driving from residents.
“What’s more, it’s important to be vigilant in high-risk areas by locking your car and leaving it in a safe place when unattended to avoid theft.”
