A dead rottweiler with plastic wrapped around his body was found left on a popular dog walking route in south Oxfordshire.
The sad discovery was made at around 8.30am yesterday morning, Monday, September 11 on a walking track in Upper Icknield Way in Chinnor.
The dog had black plastic tied around his stomach which appeared to have been used to drag him.
The RSPCA has launched an appeal for information.
RSPCA Inspector Prisca Giddens, who is investigating, said: “The dog has no visible injuries and didn’t appear to be neglected, nor is there any obvious cause of death - so we are keen to find out how and why this dog came to be dumped.
“The dog was microchipped but the chip had been implanted in Romania, and therefore we’re unable to access the details.
"The only distinguishing feature the dog had is a docked tail."
