A cannabis courier failed to turn at court, informing staff he had not got legal aid and ‘he’s not coming’.

Justin Stanley, 38, was due before Oxford Crown Court on Thursday (September 7) to be sentenced for being concerned in the supply of class B drugs in Didcot between July and November 2021.

His car had been stopped in 2021 with 2kgs of cannabis in the boot of his vehicle.

A previous attempt to hold Stanley’s sentencing hearing proved unsuccessful, with the Nottinghamshire man informing court staff that ‘his lift broke down’.

Issuing a warrant for the man’s arrest, Judge Maria Lamb said: “There will be a bench warrant not backed for bail. That should sort out the problem with the lift.”

Prosecutor David Gibson-Lee, appearing over the video link, replied: “I wouldn’t bet on it.”
