Adrian Williams has written a letter praising Thames Valley Police officers for the way they reacted after his wallet was stolen by a pickpocket.

My pocket was picked in Headington, and my wallet was stolen.

Having cancelled my credits and debit cards, I posted a report on the Thames Valley Police website and thought that this would be the end of the matter.

Not a bit of it. Two days later (Bank Holiday Monday), I was telephoned from Cowley Police Station by PC Lisa, who sought further details to help me compose a formal statement.

Next day, PC Jonathan visited my house, bringing me the statement to sign.

The modus operandi of the pickpocket had been recognised by the local force, he told me, and an arrest was likely.

Nowadays we are constantly being told that the police can't be bothered to deal with small crimes. Not so in my case.

I am delighted to have the opportunity of complimenting the officers concerned on their rapid action, their diligence, and their sympathetic treatment of my misfortune.
