A mystery over a burnt-out car following a recent spate of arson has been cleared up.
The vehicle was spotted on Priest End in Thame close to St Mary’s Church on August 25.
The incident was suspected to be arson by locals following a recent house fire in the area.
However, the vehicle occupant has since told the Oxford Mail the car arson was in fact due to an electrical fault and there was no sinister motive behind it.

The car was a metallic blue Ford and a large speaker was spotted close to the boot of the vehicle, prompting fears there had been another arson attack in the area.
One eyewitness said: “It is all very weird because Priest End was blocked off for a couple of days due to a house fire.
“I saw the vehicle on August 25 when I was walking to Long Crendon.
“The vehicle has now been removed.”
It comes after a memorial bench for a teenager was set on fire in an arson attack in Thame on Thursday, August 31.
Thames Valley Police is now appealing for witnesses to the arson.
Anyone with information should call 101 and quote the crime reference number 43230390578.
