Drivers were still suffering long delays this evening after a lorry crash on the M40 during the morning rush-hour.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway just before 7am between junction 11 at Banbury and junction 10 at Ardley.

The lorry veered off the carriageway and smashed into the central reservation crash barrier.

One lane on each carriageway was closed.

Six-mile queues were reported as late as 7pm while emergency services and highways workers cleared the area and repaired the barrier.

A spokesman for the South Central Ambulance service said paramedics took one person to hospital.
