A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "At around 10.55pm on Tuesday (August 29) Thames Valley Police received intelligence about a car that had links to drug dealing.
"Officers attempted to stop the car, but the driver did not stop and a pursuit subsequently occurred.
"The car the police were pursuing crashed into a tree on Lower Road, just after the Grenoble Road roundabout.
"The driver, a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop a mechanically propelled vehicle when required by constable, aggravated taking without consent, possession with intent to supply a controlled class A drug, possession of a controlled class B drug and possession of an offensive weapon.
"He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
"A mandatory referral to the IOPC (Independent Office for Police Conduct) has been made."
Multiple officers were at the scene on Grenoble Road in Blackbird Leys.
One eyewitness reported seeing around 10 police cars and 15 to 20 police officers at the scene.

He added: "The Grenoble Road roundabout was closed.
"There was no through road going towards Stadhampton or towards the Kassam Stadium, or to Cowley.
"Police taped off all the exits from the roundabout. There were about 10 police cars as well as 15 to 20 police officers.
"I am not sure what happened but it must have been something big judging by the police presence."
