A teenager who punched a chicken in the head at college has been fined hundreds of pounds.
Jordan Wileman, 18, of Sycamore Drive, Carterton, was in front of Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (August 17) facing a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
It followed reports of a chicken being punched in the head at Carterton Community College on February 25.
The case had previously been adjourned for the police and the Crown Prosecution Service to consider whether Wileman could be cautioned for the offence – rather than be prosecuted through the courts.
He could not be, and the case returned to the magistrates’ court on Thursday. Wileman admitted the animal cruelty charge.
He was fined £200 and ordered to pay the prosecution’s costs and a victim surcharge.
