Residents in Faringdon are warned to be on guard against bogus callers.
In April there were reports of a suspicious man knocking at doors in the town and offering to do odd jobs or asking for sponsorship money, police said today.
Several properties were then broken into and jewellery stolen.
Then, last Wednesday, a man rang the doorbell of a house in Berner's Way and was later seen at the side of the property acting suspiciously. When approached, he ran off.
He was described as white with ginger hair, in his late teens and about 5ft 8in. He had protruding front teeth and was seen with a bicycle.
Anyone with information about these incidents should call Pc Stephen Knight on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
