Planning permission has been given for an extension to a listed building along with a new outhouse and swimming pool on the site, despite a parish council’s objection.
The proposed work to be carried out at the Wells Head in East Hendred, Wantage, including a dining extension, new front door porch, a flat roof porch to the back door, along with an outhouse, swimming pool and pool house on the grounds, was given planning permission by Vale of White Horse District Council on August 11.

At the time of the application, East Hendred Parish Council listed a number of concerns about the proposals.
They included reservations about the size of the extension, the proximity of the swimming pool and outhouse to the neighbour’s property, and inaccuracies in the heritage statement.
The parish council submitted a holding objection in this initial comment, and in a document submitted just last month, maintained its rejection on the basis that changes had not been made.
